William “Billy” Morgan Announces Campaign for State Representative, 79th District

MONEE, ILL. – William “Billy” Morgan today announced his campaign for Illinois State Representative for the 79th District.

“The 79th District needs someone who will work to secure good-paying jobs, spur economic development, and enact strong ethical standards for Illinois elected officials,” Morgan said. “It's about time we increase the quality of life for our seniors and their caregivers, invest in our local infrastructure, and bring government closer to the people.”

A Monee Township trustee who previously worked in the Illinois Governor’s Office, Morgan is a pragmatic problem-solver with a firm commitment to the idea that in a democracy, the people call the shots. In 2018, when his local school district was planning to shutter schools in two majority Black villages, Morgan spearheaded a grassroots petition drive with a small group of committed residents and stopped the district from illegally closing schools without a referendum.

Morgan has long been a supporter of strong ethical standards, proposing new ways for everyday people to initiate ethics laws; authoring new, stronger, more transparent whistleblower protections in Monee Township government; and working to elect a new generation of leaders into local elected offices.

While in state government and after, Morgan worked with servicemembers and Gold Star families to honor the courage and sacrifice of our men and women in the Armed Forces and their families.

“Billy Morgan has spent years dedicating himself to helping people,” said Illinois House Deputy Majority Leader Natalie Manley, president of the Illinois Democratic Women of Will County. “He is a strong proponent of a woman’s right to choose and he will fight for equality and fairness in the Illinois General Assembly. I am proud to endorse Billy Morgan for state representative in the 79th District.”

Morgan’s campaign is endorsed by elected officials, labor union members, party leaders, and grassroots activists across the district and beyond. A full list of endorsements will be announced.

Morgan’s campaign committee is Friends of Billy Morgan. More information can be found online at BillyMorgan.com or on the campaign Facebook page.
